Light Aircraft Crashes into Buildings and Bursts into Flames in Mwihoko, Kiambu County

A light aircraft has crashed into buildings and caught fire in the Dagama area of Mwihoko, Kiambu County. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon while the aircraft was flying over the area.

Following the crash, local residents rushed to the scene and began rescue efforts. While the number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, footage from the scene shows residents watching from a distance as the aircraft burned.

Images and videos widely circulated online show individuals believed to be military personnel assisting in extinguishing the flames, which had already engulfed much of the aircraft. The crash also destroyed an unoccupied building and damaged an electricity line, further worsening the situation.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the aircraft flying unusually low before it hit the ground with a loud bang and erupted in flames. Some witnesses claimed that several casualties were retrieved from the wreckage.

Firefighters from Ruiru town in Kiambu County responded swiftly and managed to put out the fire.

As of the time of reporting, no official statements had been issued by relevant government bodies, including the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) or the National Police Service.
